Day 1 of Horror-a-Day October!! Creep 1 & 2

It's that time of year. I figured since last year I did a month long new horror film I hadn't seen a day. I would do the same but, with a twist. Going to be aiming for horror films with sequels that either surpassed the original or held up beside it instead of letting it down like the choice some make to pickup the lady of questionable morality outside of a dollar tree. Sure she needs the money, but is it worth the risk? But I digress

We start with CREEP and CREEP 2

CREEP

Simple premise. Weird guy wants to pay a person $1k to film them for a full day. Weirdness follows as do so many jump scares you'll begin to cuss out the movie for them. But you will also grow a near affinity for the cuteness or creepiness of 'Peachfuzz', which that word already has some giggling, shame on you. This movies peachfuzz is. Well it's both a good reminder that furries are not always friendly, and also a good reminder that sometimes it's okay to be something different and go to sex parties you'll feel dirty for having gone to after.

The first film is genuinely worth the watch. Good deal of jump scares which DO have a place and meaning. A dumb white guy who should've called the cops many many MANY times over, but decides not too, and a truly creepy sometimes funny af creep. The less said the better because it could ruin it for you if you hadn't seen it. The end was actually pretty "Oh damn" and one of those, you kind of expect, but maybe not to the degree they go. Still, a solid fun film. Highly recommend.

CREEP 2

So how can a film hold a candle to the original? When it seems to just use the same premise as the first? By giving the titular character a mid life crisis! This film is the serial killer equivalent to How Stella Got her Groove Back. But with creepy white serial killer and a female youtuber trying to help him find his groove. Back. Yeah....But it works!! The female lead is absolutely awesome in this, she's not only pretty damn believable, but a good counterpart to crazy pants. Yes there are jump scares in this too, but these ones are actually pretty damn funny. Especially toward the middle of the film. The story this time around, is a woman running a youtube channel called ENCOUNTERS, documents people she meets on Craigslist who are all a bit out there and weird, or just plane lonely. She finds an add from our cray white dude from the first film, and decides yeah sure why not. So she sets out to film a documentary of this man telling her about his life, supposedly. But within ten minutes of meeting him he pulls his dick out. Literally the guy is like 'Dicks out for murder bro" and pulls out his jimmy john. Why do I mention this? Because not many films give dick shots so, your welcome.

The movie isn't as creepy as the first, sure. But it has its moments, oh definitely. It's a different kind of creepy vibe this time around. Which is a good thing. He doesn't repeat the same things from the first one, It has a continuity to it thankfully, and it takes place some years after the first. Which again helps it along. The acting is pretty good for found footage, and like I said the characters this time around are seriously great. There's a lot of twist in the sequel and it actually feels like they expanded a bit on the original, which is especially good. I really dug the first one and when I saw they made a sequel I just tried thinking how and why? Then after watching it I got it, and loved it. Seriously worth the recommendation, they're both free on netflix right now, might even be on Amazon for all I know. Give it a go if you can. Just be warned.
